It is time for churches to start being the active salt and light in our culture that Jesus called us to be in the Sermon on the Mount. And to do this we must first talk about it, discuss it, debate it, and sometimes even disagree about it at church. But this old song that you can’t talk about these things at church because it is politics must be replaced by a new song that says this isn’t about politics; this is about virtue and becoming salt and light.
This is about, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). This is about, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). And this is about a war—not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Wake up, folks! Satan is alive and well in this country, and we must confront him. He wants to destroy this country.
